Overnight Brioche French Toast Casserole

Start with stale or slightly dried out bread so it can absorb the custard.

Whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt.

Place half of the bread cubes in a prepped dish. Pour half of the custard over them. Add the rest of the bread and top with the rest of the custard.

Cover with aluminum foil and place the casserole in the fridge overnight.

The bread will soak up all of the custard through the night.

Bake the casserole covered for 45 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 30 minutes.

The French toast casserole should be slightly puffed up, golden brown, and set in the center when it's done.

Dust the top with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup. See the post for more ideas of what to serve with this casserole to round out the meal!
