Ingredients

Ingredient Notes

Chicken – Boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs will both work.

Broccoli – Broccoli adds a nice crunch to the dish. You could also use carrots, bell peppers, snap peas, or any other veggie you like.

Garlic and Ginger – Minced garlic and ginger add a lot of flavor to the sauce. I highly recommend using fresh garlic and fresh ginger and mincing them yourself for the best flavor.

Honey – Balances out the saltiness of the soy sauce.

Low Sodium Soy Sauce – I prefer to use low sodium soy sauce in my recipes. If you use regular soy sauce, know that your sauce may be too salty so I suggest adding it slowly and tasting it to know when enough has been added. You can substitute with coconut aminos if you prefer to stay soy-free.

Cornstarch – Cornstarch is a thickening agent. Once the sauce simmers it will activate and produce a thicker sauce.

Oil – The oil used in stir fry needs to have a high smoke point. Good options include canola oil, peanut oil, refined coconut oil, and grapeseed oil. Avoid oils with low smoke points, like olive oil.

Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the hot pan and add the broccoli. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until tender-crisp, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Tips & Tricks

  • The process of making a stir fry always goes fast. Have all of the ingredients ready before you start cooking to make the process easier and prevent overcooking or burning anything
  • If the sauce thickens too much, simply add a couple of tablespoons of water to thin it back out

What To Serve It With

  • Steamed white rice
  • Steamed brown rice
  • Fried rice
  • Sautéed cauliflower rice
  • Steamed or fried dumplings
  • Noodles such as rice noodles, udon noodles, or soba noodles
  • Top the stir fry with sliced green onions and chopped peanuts

Substitutions & Variations

  • Try other proteins like cubed steak, shrimp, or tofu
  • Add any fresh veggies you like. Carrots, snap peas, bell peppers, and water chestnuts are all great options
  • If you want to keep it low carb, serve the stir fry over cauliflower rice

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

To reheat on the stove, add the leftovers to a pan with a tablespoon of water and heat over medium-low heat until warmed through.

To reheat in the microwave, place the leftovers in a microwave-safe dish with a tablespoon of water. Cover with a damp towel or paper towel and heat in 20-second bursts until warmed through, stirring between each one.
